Ridge Tile Re-Bedding & Re-Pointing in Claygate
Ridge tile re-bedding and re-pointing on a pitched tile roof in Claygate, refreshing failing mortar joints along the ridge line to stop tiles working loose and keep the roof fully weathertight.
The mortar bedding along this ridge had started to crack and crumble with age, allowing several ridge tiles to work loose. Left unattended, failing ridge mortar lets wind get underneath the tiles and allows rainwater to penetrate the roof structure below.
Our roofers carefully lifted the affected ridge tiles, removed all the old, failing mortar, and re-bedded each tile on a fresh, properly mixed mortar bed. The joints were then re-pointed and finished cleanly along the existing ridge line, using tiles that match the roof’s colour and profile.
The result is a ridge line that’s secure against wind uplift and rain penetration, giving the homeowner reliable, weathertight performance for years to come.
